5 Coffee Brewing Methods Every Coffee Lover Should Try

The way coffee is brewed changes everything about it — body, strength, even how long you're meant to sit with the cup. Here are five methods on our menu, and what each one is actually good for.
Same beans, ground and brewed five different ways, will give you five genuinely different drinks. Grind size, water temperature, and contact time all push the flavor in a different direction — which is really just a technical way of saying there's no single "best" way to make coffee, only the method that fits what you're in the mood for.
1. Turkish Coffee
One of the oldest brewing methods still in daily use, Turkish coffee is made by simmering very finely ground coffee directly in water inside a small pot called a cezve — no filter, no plunger. What you get is a thick, foamy, intensely flavorful cup, with the fine grounds settling at the bottom rather than being strained out. Order our Turkish Coffee ($5) and let it sit a moment before you drink it; that's part of the method.
2. Arabic Coffee (Cardamom-Infused)
Close cousin to Turkish coffee in brewing method, but a different cup entirely. Our Arabic Coffee ($5) is infused with cardamom during brewing, which shifts the whole profile toward something warmer and more aromatic — the kind of coffee that fills the room before it reaches the table.
3. Espresso-Based Classics
Espresso is the foundation everything else is built on: finely-ground coffee, hot water forced through at high pressure, and a shot of concentrated coffee with a rich crema on top in under 30 seconds. We pull it straight as a Double Espresso ($3.50), or build on it — a Cappuccino ($4.95) with steamed milk and thick foam, a Latte ($5) for something smoother, or a Mocha ($6.50) if you want chocolate in the mix.
4. Slow and Balanced: Americano
Sometimes you want the flavor of espresso without the intensity. Our Americano stretches a shot of espresso with hot water, keeping the flavor but softening the concentration — an easy, everyday cup that doesn't ask much of you.
5. Nitro Cold Brew
For something cold, our Nitro Coffee ($4.95) is cold brew infused with nitrogen, which gives it a smooth, almost creamy texture straight out of the tap — no milk or sugar required to soften it. It's the one to order on a hot Livermore afternoon when hot coffee is the last thing you want.
The method changes the coffee more than the beans do. Same bag, five completely different cups.
